WildTrack presents a highly valuable real-world utility and technical innovation by leveraging footprint identification technology (FIT) and AI for non-invasive wildlife conservation. However, the submission contains extremely vague and exaggerated claims regarding audience reach ('everyone') and traction ('most people have used my product'). As a result, steep penalties were applied via the quality factor (0.5) to reach, traction, and overall response quality, placing the project in the minimal verifiable traction tier.

Description
WildTrack's wildlife conservation is a unique combination of ancient and modern techology. It was co-founded by Zoe Jewell and Sky Alibhai, a veterinarian and wildlife biologist whose early work revealed that invasive monitoring techniques were causing female rhino to lose calves. Searching for safer alternatives, they learned from expert indigenous trackers that it was possible to identify rhinos from their unique individual footprints. This led to the development of their award-winning footprint identification technology (FIT). FIT can identify the species, individual, sex and age of an animal just from images of their footprints. WildTrack's conservation projects range from elephant to mouse footprints, from lion in Africa to tapir in South America, and much more in between! In the last few years they have started developing an award-winning AI platform to accelerate the development of new species models. Working with partners such as AWS, Provectus and Edge Impulse they are making excellent progress. Wildtrack has an app, WildTrackAI (iOS and Android) that allows anyone to collect images of animal tracks that they see in nature. Images are processed on the AWS cloud. Why not try it?! Above all, WildTrack values and promotes the engagement of Traditional Ecological Knowledge for wildlife conservation. This ancient skill, typically used for tracking, brings so much to our understanding of ecology and conservation, and this engagement ensures that the voices of communities with this knowledge are represented in every aspect of our work. Recently, WildTrack was honoured to be nominated to the 1% for the Planet community, and we have already received a generous donation from Edge Impulse, a Business Partner in that community member that leads the world in edge device software development for machine learning. If your company is a business partner in the 1% for the planet community, we'd love to talk about how we can work together for mutual benefit!
