USPACE has been launched to develop products for the industrial market in a short time and with high quality standards in the wide world that goes under the umbrella of edge computing / Internet of Things. The approach to the structure of the company and the team is derived from the experience of the founding partners that comes from the service design, interaction design, hardware design and software development distributed with dozens of major projects completed from aerospace to home automation. The current picture of the technological development chain highlights the following factors: - increasingly innovative ideas to be implemented in increasingly tight timescales - difficult transformation of ideas into products with high failure rate and/or overrun of expected time and cost - need for multi-disciplinary skills and integration of various systems for the complete solution This situation is identical for small and medium-sized enterprises as well as for start-ups. Designing a new product at the level of idea is now relatively simple thanks to an awareness of the methodologies of design thinking. The pervasiveness of the IoT makes accessible potentially very profitable modes of operation. But, there is a pity when in fast prototyping and production phase. Too often, the systems built do not reflect industry standards and remain prototype solutions that are not ready to scale and withstand the stress of use on a large scale or in continuous operation. The initial phase of development of new projects always involves an effort in the creation of basic components necessary for the realization of most projects. This limitation, in the current systemic approach to these activities, implies consequently a scarcity of valid resources able, in a fast and economically sustainable way, to realize the passage from the idea to the industrial product, as far as both the hardware and the software are concerned.
