Gaining Momentum

TASA. addresses a serious real-world safety issue (drink spiking) with a functional mobile app for alerts and reporting. However, the submission contains demonstrable falsehoods regarding traction (claiming 'most people have used my product'), and the actual user base appears negligible based on App Store data (insufficient ratings to display). While the mission is noble and the utility is clear, the project is early-stage with minimal verifiable adoption, and the submission quality is degraded by hyperbolic claims.

Description
In 2021, 40% of 18-24 year olds reported that they either knew someone who had been spiked, or had been spiked themselves. But very few spiking incidents are reported and spiking is on the rise – affecting thousands of people who just want to have fun. TASA. (TASAdot) is a youth-powered organisation that believes everyone deserves to have fun without fear. Our company is driven and run by the target audience, a group of analysts aged 18- 24 supported by a small number of advisors who are subject matter experts. Jai Britto, an analyst for TASA. says "Some see spiking as a rarity; others consider it an inevitable reality of going out. I joined TASA. because we know spiking is neither of these things. Spiking is poisoning and prevalent and we need to do something big to tackle it.” There is a great deal of talk about the rise of spiking and many reasons why people feel they can’t report it, but spiking IS an assault which can lead to a further sexual assault and theft. At TASA., we plan to change that by creating a greater understanding of where and when spiking occurs and giving the going out community tools to plan a safer night out. Maryliz Ivan, founder of the youth-powered organisation, TASA. says: “At TASA. we have made it our mission to bring the night-out community together to take a stand against spiking.” We want to shine a light on and tackle spiking. But without reliable data, we have no way of proving how prevalent or dangerous spiking is. We have launched an app that will allow for emergency alerts and anonymous reporting along with a survey on our website at TASAdot.com to gather historical data so that the true impact and the scale of spiking can be understood.
