English is the language of business, travel, entertainment and online education. It’s the language of opportunity. In Brazil, people who speak English get paid 61% more. But only 5% of the population can communicate in English. And a mere 1% consider themselves fluent. Storm Education teaches basic English over WhatsApp to people from poor communities all over Brazil in partnership with charities and volunteer teachers from all over the country since 2020. But that’s not enough. We want every Brazilian, no matter where they come from, to understand that learning English isn’t just for those who can afford it.
