Gaining Momentum

Solstice AI is a verified, high-potential B2B technology company specializing in solar forecasting using advanced AI and satellite imagery. The project has significant real-world utility for energy grids and has secured demonstrable traction, including ~$3.38M in funding and partnerships with ARENA. However, the submission itself contained inaccuracies (claiming 'everyone' as audience and 'most people' as users), which negatively impacted the Response Quality and Audience Reach scores. Despite the poor submission quality, the underlying technology and business traction place it in the 'Comparable Scale' tier.

Description
Solstice AI is an artificial intelligence company. We provide solutions that help energy utilities, energy traders, and solar generation asset owners to increase their profits and manage their risk in response to ever-increasing amounts of variable solar energy. We develop state-of-the-art technology to identify where all the existing solar photovoltaic generation exists, and to forecast how much it will be generating. Our first product, Solstice SkyScan, identifies where all the solar generation in a given region exists, by using an advanced AI model that identifies solar panels in overhead imagery. We further have proprietary image processing capabilities that enable us to identify the capacities and orientations of all existing solar PV. Our second product, Solstice SkyFlow, enables us to forecast how much solar power will be generated, by applying another type of advanced AI to satellite imagery to accurately forecast the movement of clouds, the main driver of solar generation. By combining the two products, we are able to forecast the output of individual sites, or the aggregate output of all solar PV (including all small-scale rooftop solar PV) of an entire region, such as a state or a country. Our aim is to become the world’s leading solar energy generation forecast provider. Our PhD-qualified team has deep roots in fundamental research and development, and decades of joint practical experience in building state-of-the-art solutions for the energy sector.
