IKIC Impact Ventures BV is a Belgium based start-up focused on delivering cold chain solutions to low resource settings around the world. Our goal is to generate positive societal impact in an economically sustainable and scalable way, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. At IKIC, we specialize in offering smart passive cold chain solutions in the first and last mile of the supply chain for the agri-food and health sectors. Our solutions are especially effective in low-resource settings where access to energy is unreliable, and for mass, decentralized low-volume transport where electronic equipment becomes too expensive. Our innovative passive cooling technology consists of thermostatic batteries, which are stainless steel casings containing a phase changing material. This allows for a more stable and predictable cooling environment for temperature sensitive products. Using smart IoT devices, the key aspects of the supply chain are monitored. Users can consult the remaining cold chain duration and be alerted in case of cold chain disruption. Our state-of-the-art technologies are licensed to IKIC through an impact license obtained from the technology holders. In the impact licenses the agreements and purposes for which IKIC can use the technologies are stipulated.
