Foresite.ai began out of frustration. While working for a developer client of his architecture firm in Seattle, Bo Steadman was asked to prepare a document discussing the viability of a high-rise project. The report took weeks and the client ignored the final recommendation, choosing to “go with his gut” instead. Two years later, while preparing a research report at a large real estate developer, Bo’s frustration grew as he spent an entire summer scouring the web to try to find and clean data to forecast the investments the firm should pursue. After starting his MBA at Duke, Bo connected with Victor Franco who had become increasingly interested in the machine learning’s ability to quantify qualitative information. The two teamed up with Matt Fisher, an expert in deep and machine learning, to tackle the problem of understanding and forecasting real estate growth and Foresite.ai was born.
