Proof of Usefulness Score
Gaining Momentum

Derwen Inc. appears to be a legitimate, specialized open-source ML and AI consulting firm. However, the submission contains highly exaggerated and dubious metrics, such as claiming an audience reach of 'everyone' and traction of 'most people have used my product', which completely contradicts its B2B enterprise focus. Due to these vague and unsupported claims, the quality multipliers for reach, traction, and response quality have been heavily penalized.

Description
Derwen, Inc., provides evaluation, integration, packaging, performance optimization, concurrency, and security hardening for open source software used in machine learning use cases, with expertise in natural language, graph technologies, and operations research. Our mission is to bridge between open source communities of practice in artificial intelligence, and the enterprise customers who need to work with them. Per our contractual obligations with enterprise customers, specifically for confidentiality agreements, security requirements, compliance norms, and mitigation of potential conflicts of interest, our firm does not engage directly in: fundraising for other firms, recruiting for other firms, IT vendor sales, nor use of outsourcing. For similar reasons, we do not partner with some categories of businesses in general, e.g., venture-backed startups productizing ML platforms. Derwen, Inc., is a partner of Earth Sciences Information Partners (ESIP). Our team is 100% distributed/remote, diverse in background, schedule is flexible, meetings are rare, mentoring is encouraged, and compensation is high. We prefer to work in relatively small teams of highly capable, interdisciplinary experts. There are no degree requirements. By appointment only.
