Proof of Usefulness Score
Category Standard

AlmaScience represents a significant institutional R&D initiative in sustainable electronics with strong backing (Navigator Company, Government of Portugal) and a large team (125 employees). The project demonstrates high technical innovation and real-world utility potential in green tech. However, the submission quality is poor, containing exaggerated claims ('most people have used my product') and vague audience definitions. While the 'market cap' likely refers to grant funding/valuation (~€17M), the lack of commercial user traction and the research-focused nature of the entity distinguishes it from consumer apps. The high score reflects the substantial organizational scale and deep-tech value, heavily penalized by the low-quality submission responses.

Description
AlmaScience is a collaborative innovation R&D lab and a technology incubator for sustainable functional materials and green electronics. Our solutions provide an answer to the increasing demand by industry for cost-effective, easy-to-produce, high-performance technology solutions that have a low environmental footprint. We do this by transforming natural materials such as cellulose and paper into functional electronic devices – and more – using eco-friendly, ultra-low waste production methods. Our approach focuses on industry 4.0 compatible, locally produced, printable, energy-efficient, and fully recyclable alternatives to traditional electronic devices, thus preventing e-waste and reducing costs and unwanted dependencies on unreliable supply chains. AlmaScience is supported by the Portuguese Innovation Agency (ANI) and collaborates with leading academic and industrial partners including CENIMAT, NOVA FCT, NOVA.ID, The Navigator Company, Raiz, INCM, Firmo, Clara Saúde, and the Municipality of Almada to fulfill our research and social objectives.
