You're In Business

Agape Innovations Limited is a legitimate, verified social enterprise in Uganda focused on agroecology and pest management (specifically 'push-pull' technology). While the submission itself was of very low quality (containing hyperbolic claims like 'audienceReach: everyone' and 'most people have used my product'), external validation confirms the existence of their 'Push-Pull' mobile app with over 1,250 users and physical product reach to ~10,000 farmers. The project has academic backing (partnerships with Keele University, icipe) and high real-world utility for food security, but remains a small-scale regional operation (<50K users) rather than a high-growth tech venture.

Description
Agape Innovations Limited is a youth-led, for-profit social enterprise that is focused on solving agriculture problems using science and innovation. We identify farmers’ problems and outsource for solutions that are effective, cost friendly, environmentally conscious, and easy to use by an average African farmer. Our activities are divided into the following four departments. 1) Agro-inputs Department: This deals with products that farmers use in their gardens. The characteristics of products in this department are: non-chemical (organic), cost-friendly and effective. 2) Seeds Department: This department deals with seeds of vegetables and legumes. This department is determined to help farmers avoid falling prey to substandard seeds by availing seeds with a high germination percentage, high cultivar purity and true-to-type seeds. 3) Public Health Department: This department outsources products to control insect pests like cockroaches, bedbugs and mosquitoes. The yardstick of products here is: they should be specific in operation (targeting a specific pest in question and not broad spectrum), they should be having low toxicity (safe to pets and children if accidentally ingested) and be odorless. 4) ICT Department: This is mandated to develop ICT interventions to solve farmers' problems. Our ICT products are free, operate offline and do not collect user data. Currently we have four mobile applications. The most outstanding is the push-pull app that helps farmers of maize and sorghum get knowledge on how to control pests and diseases without using chemicals.
